Japan March 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami

RMF partnered with a Japanese non-profit in Tokyo, Japanese Emergency NGO (JEN) in late March 2011, to deliver aid and supplies to those most affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan and all those affected by the 9.0 earthquake that struck off its northeastern coast and the devastating tsunami that followed on Friday, March 11, 2011.
Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coastline were affected by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter
Real Medicine is currently focused on long term community building projects in Japan in partnership with JEN.
We are currently funding several new Community Gathering Centers in the Ishinomaki City area, where psychosocial care, entertainment, economic and legal counseling and many other activities are provided free of charge. We have also started a Fishery Assistance Program that is assisting in the rebuilding of four different villages capacity to fish locally after their boats, nets and ports had been heavily damaged by the tsunami.
