Madumekala Udayawanthi, December 2009 Visit

Real Medicine Foundation Project Coordinator Mrs. Stephney Minerva Fernando and Real Medicine Foundation Accountant Mr. Nishantha Sadakelum participated in the trip to Ruhuna Medical College at Karapitiya Hospital on December 23rd along with patients Sachini, Madumekala and Tharindu, who were accompanied by relatives. They met with Mrs. Shanuki from Baurs Company and Professor Sujeewa and his assistant, Dr. Mrs. Priyanga Burhan

Madumekala Udayawanthi

Madumekala Udayawanthi started the Growth Hormone therapy when she was 11 years old. She suffers from Panhypopituitarism. At the time, she had the bone age of a three year old and her height was 99.5cms. Now 15, she is 122.8cms tall and her weight is 20.2kilos. Madu is attending the tenth grade in Seenimodara and she has a healthy passion for dancing.

Madu will continue with the growth hormone program through the end of 2010 and will begin secondary hormone therapy in April. For her next visit Dr. Priyanga has arranged to have her bone age to be verified.

Real Medicine Foundation also provides Madu with monthly parcels of grains, fruits and vegetables to see that she is properly nourished.
