Bilha Achieng

Project Coordinator, South Sudan

February 8th 2010 marked Bilha’s 25th birthday. This year was different from any other as it was celebrated with a team of new work colleagues and, most importantly, friends whom she had come to know and cherish for the past 6 months. Life in a foreign country presented her with an opportunity to learn from vast cultures and experiences through the resourceful people she has met and worked with.

Fresh out of the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in Political Science, coupled with an Advanced Diploma in Business Management, her first career opportunity was an internship with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-Southern Sudan. This has enabled her to work with several national and international organizations, particularly Real Medicine Foundation.

Her academic and social experiences have over time molded her to be, confident, strong-willed, hardworking, open minded and most importantly grateful for what life has to offer. She draws her strengths from her family, which has been her support system, and faces every challenge as a learning opportunity.
