Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel

Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel graduated from Medical School at Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya in 2007. He then proceeded to do a one year mandatory internship at the Coast Provincial Hospital in Mombasa where he was voted the best intern in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was subsequently retained at this hospital for 6 months as Medical Officer in charge of Maternity.
Gilchrist Lokoel is part of the Turkana tribe, and it was the love for his people that saw him request a transfer from the city to his dry home district of Turkana, in the northern part of Kenya. He initially served as the only Medical Officer of Health for the District Hospital before he was promoted to the District Medical Officer of Health, a post he currently occupies. Among many things, he is involved in care and treatment of patients, surgeries, administration, organizing free medical camps and promoting good health and education in his hometown, Lodwar. He is a registered member of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board and a volunteer of the Red Cross, Kenya.
