Real Medicine Foundation Appeal for Myanmar/Burma Cyclone victimsDear Friends of Real Medicine, In these closing days prior to our mission to Mozambique, the world along with our Real Medicine Team of friends across the globe were all shocked by the news of the devastation in Myanmar/Burma following Cyclone Nargis. The current numbers of casualties are estimated between 128,000 to 200,000, and about 1.5 million people are at risk to die within the next few weeks due to hunger, thirst and disease if we don’t work quickly to provide much needed aid to the region. Our network of "Friends Helping Friends" allows us to work inside of Myanmar. We are working directly with a partner organization in Myanmar which has a network of 125 field workers on the ground who are doing everything in their power to provide the people of Myanmar a chance at survival during these crucial times, but they are in desperate need for the funds to procure, and dispense medical supplies, food, and clean water. The emergency, recovery and rehabilitation process over the next six months will require significant resources, and many of our volunteers and friends have asked what they can do to help in the relief efforts in Myanmar. One particular volunteer who wished to donate time in the near future to help rebuild in the region, offered to give one day’s income for the immediate relief effort needs, and has invited our network of friends and volunteers to do the same. Just think, one day's income- to help save the lives of the multiplied thousands who are facing certain death unless we do something quickly. One day’s income, one Friday night dinner and a movie, one tank of gas, one day’s Coffee allowance within the office, the possibilities are endless. One day can make a "real" difference in the lives of thousands. We invite you to join us in our "one day, one world" pledge to the children and their families of Myanmar to let them know they are not forgotten and we don't just let them die.
