Accomplishments

  • Dr. Martina Fuchs Addresses the Project Leaders

    Visit from Dr. Martina Fuchs

    Needs Assessment Conducted

    RMF Uganda team hosted RMF CEO Dr. Martina Fuchs for a program and needs assessment visit for all Kiryandongo programs in February 2014.

  • RMF sponsored students

    School Support

    3,103 Children Receive Aid

    First installment of the school fees in all sponsored schools has been paid for the first term 2014.

    Medicine Delivery

    Health Center Equipped for Influx of Refugees

    RMF/WCF, the local government, and UNHCR equipped the health center with pharmaceuticals this reporting period. The last resupply was on January 15th, 2014.

    All the materials for first semester of his year 2014 were provided.

    All the students who were admitted turned up to attend lessons, with a total number of 54 attending the first day of classes.

  • The sponsored tailors are listening attentively to the director’s remarks.

    Business Progress

    Only a few of the 10 tailors’ businesses RMF was sponsoring were making reasonable profits and there were concerns about the reasons. A meeting was held with RMF staff, vocational instructors and the tailors to address the concerns.

Background

& Objectives

Background

The Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Bweyale, Uganda, is a UNHCR managed refugee settlement that provides shelter, land, and support for more than 100,000 people. They are comprised of refugees from Kenya, DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. RMF has partnered with UNHCR in supporting Kiryandango Refugee Settlement, the surrounding community of Bweyale, and the greater Kiryandongo District (an additional 266,197 people) with health care, education, and vocational training since 2008.


Objectives
  • To serve as a health care implementation partner with the UNHCR and Ugandan Government
  • To provide health care services to over 100,000 refugees and persons in the community via the Panyadoli Health Centres
  • To provide skills training for South Sudanese refugees to enable them to become self-reliant
